ПОВОДОМ 150 ГОДИНА САВЕЗА ИНЖЕЊЕРА И ТЕХНИЧАРА СРБИЈЕ

 

Корени српске техничке цивилизације почињу још у средњем веку у доба Немањића. Зачеци инжењерства су у рударско-металуршким подухватима као што је значајни рудник Ново Брдо и грађењу величанствених сакралних и других објеката.

Обнављањем српске државе после вишевековне Отоманске власти и стварањем модерне државе у 19. веку оживело је и инжењерство у Србији. Инжењери се тада претежно школују у Аустроугарском царству и у Француској. Већ 1868. године  3. фебруара  била је основана „Техничарска дружина“ која је претеча данашњег Савеза инжењера и техничара Србије.

Инжењерски Савез је за својих 150 година пролазио кроз разне мене, али је стално био активан и друштвено препознатљив. Многи значајни инжењери и научници свих струка су били и сада су активни чланови. Први председник је био архитекта и урбаниста Емилијан Јосимовић, а истакнути почасни члан Никола Тесла.

Врло значајан моменат у раду и афирмацији Савеза је била изградња зграде Дома инжењера Србије 1936. године и новог Дома инжењера „Никола Тесла“ 1967. године. Средства за изградњу домова су обезбеђивали инжењери, привредници и добротвори чиме је инжењерска интелигенција исказала значај и вољу за окупљањем и деловањем кроз форму удружења и савеза као израз стручног, научног и интелектуалног, те критичког ангажовања.

Савез данас има преко четрдесет, што струковних, мултидисциплинарних, тематских, градских и регионалних чланица. У његовом саставу је Развојни центар, као и Инжењерска академија Србије. Активности су разноразне: окупљање, дебате, конференције, издаваштво, сарадња са другим струкама и удружењима, одржавање стручних испита, изложбе, рад са студентима, средњошколцима, младим истраживачима.

Чланство Савеза броји више хиљада инжењера из свих градова и општина Србије. Савез и његове чланице су невладине организације, које се самофинансирају из својих активности и чланарине.
